Job description of a dive master

Diving instructors teach and supervise scuba techniques in swimming pools or open water. They can also organize and supervise activities other than training such as navigation. Open water dive instructors can lead students on the surface and navigation portions of the dives. A dive instructor's job may include the supervision of certified divers during a scuba certification course. Dive instructors are subject to different legal obligations. In certain countries, however, the legal responsibility of diving instructors is exempted if the instructor signs a waiver.
Certification requirements
To become a Divemaster, you will need to take a course. A Divemaster course covers topics such as setting up a dive site, managing a group of divers, conducting diver flows, and finding the flow for dives. The minimum number of dives candidates need to have completed must be at least 60. Divemasters can assist novice divers with theory and skills, as well as assisting instructors during dive courses.
Dive masters must not only take courses but also pass a 2-part exam. To pass the exam, candidates must score at least 75% on each part. The eRDPML and the PADI Instructor Manual will be used for the exam. Students will also have to prepare an emergency plan and perform five water skills exercises. At least fifteen points must be combined. Divemasters must be certified after completing the course.
Internships are required
To become a Divemaster, there are many internship opportunities. You have the option to help set up dive sites or assist with other PADI courses, depending on what you prefer. You may also be required to assist with skill circuits. The internship will follow a specific pattern. An average internship lasts eight weeks. In that time you could become an Advanced Open Water Diver. After that, you can become a Dive Guide or Divemaster after four to six weeks of training.
Additionally to the paid internships you might be eligible for a free internship as a Divemaster. Free internships can be a bit frustrating, but you will have plenty of time for study and advice from a Divemaster.
