Molasses Reef
The popular dive spot for the south section is Molasses Reef. This area is home to large grouper and sharks, as well as tarpon, eels, tarpon, eagle Rays, and eagles. This dive site is protected by the Sanctuary Preservation Area. Fishing is strictly prohibited. The name Molasses Reef came from the fact that the SS Slobodna, a ship trying to transport cotton back to Europe, ran aground here.
Southpoint Divers
Southpoint Divers in Key West has been awarded numerous times for its excellence. It is Key West's oldest dive centre and has been open since 1991. They offer classes and dive charters. M/V Phoenix comes with a cameratable, fresh water showers as well as storage space. It also has two dive ladders. It can transport up to 40 divers. Southpoint Divers doesn't take in more than 27 divers.
