Dani Koyomaru

Saint Lucia has many options for divers who are interested in diving. There are two options for divers who want to dive in Saint Lucia: Rosemond's Trench is smaller but just as impressive; or deeper waters. This area is famous for its massive schools of tropical fish and giant sponges the size of men. It also has intricate coral formations. You can also dive here to see the famous Saint Lucia coral reef system.

A few miles away from the coast lies the Daini Koyomaru ruin. This Japanese dredger went down in 1996. Although the ship is partially submerged, the superstructure keeps the wreck upright. You can see the upturned decks and inscriptions in Japanese as well as other languages.

Dani Koyomaru dragger

Daini Koyomaru, a Japanese fishing ship, was dredged and is an incredible wreck to dive. It measures approximately 74 meters long by 24 meters high. The dredger, which is sunken on its side now makes it a safe place for experienced divers to dive. French angelfish and garden eels are just a few of the many marine species that inhabit the dredger.

Another popular St Lucia dive spot is the 165-foot cargo vessel Lesleen M. This Japanese dredger is also a popular one. Although the dive site is only shallow, it's home to many fascinating creatures like scorpionfish and flying gurnard.

Soufriere Marine Management Area

You can dive in St Lucia's Soufriere Marine Management Area to see the beautiful coral reefs. This marine management area was established to preserve the waters and foster a healthy ecosystem. It was established because of environmental degradation and conflict between resource users. SMMA was especially created due to conflict between local fishermen and divers.

Since 2004, the Soufriere Pictons site is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is managed to be a nature reserve. This site boasts some the best diving in St Lucia. The site is home to numerous coral species and has an abundance of tropical fish. The passage of many species of cetaceans as well as predators is another reason for this area being so popular. Divers have the opportunity to observe the amazing marine biodiversity.
