How to Become a Master Diver in the United States Navy

The highest level of war qualification in diving is master diver in US Navy. This enlisted person typically has the greatest knowledge, experience and training in all aspects of diving and underwater salvage. Master divers must have at least 15 years experience and have completed a specialization training course. By taking a specialization class, master diver status can be earned in the United States Navy.

PADI Master Scuba Diver

PADI Master Scuba Diver certification scuba diving certification recognizes scuba diving expertise. The program is offered by several North American dive training agencies such as the National Association of Underwater Instructors and the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. This is the most advanced level of diving certification. You must dive at least thirty feet below the surface to complete the course.

NAUI Master Scuba Diver

If you want to learn more about scuba diving and are looking to advance your skills, the NAUI Master Scuba Diver program might be the right course for you. This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge necessary to organize dives for others. You'll learn to use a compass and perform underwater communications. You'll also learn how to lead a dive in a new location. This course includes a classroom session and two open-water dives.


NAUI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver

The NAUI Enriched air (NITX), Master Diver course will help you to improve your diving skills. This course covers all aspects of enriched air diving including mixing Nitrox and Oxygen. Students will learn how to analyze the breathing mixture, the physiology of oxygen and nitrogen, and the hazards of handling both gases. In addition, they'll learn the concept of Equivalent Air Depth and common gas mixing techniques. You can take the enriched-air course as an extension to your open water diver certification. This is required in order to be able use the enriched mix.

NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver

Completing the required courses is essential to achieving your dream of becoming a NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver Master Diving Instructor. This certification is a prerequisite in the NAUI FIT program, which will prepare you to be a professional NAUI Instructor/Leader. Start by taking the Try Scuba course. This program aims to provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely dive in open sea.

NAUI First Aid Course

NAUI First Aid for master divers will teach you how to respond to all kinds of emergencies that could occur in the water. Apart from refresher sessions, this course will provide valuable information regarding new First Aid standards as well training best practices. NAUI First Aid will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to rapidly respond to an immediate emergency. The course is also uniquely hands-on, allowing you to practice the skills that you learn in the classroom.
