This certification is offered by several North American dive training agencies, such as the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (Scuba Schools International) and the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI). While instructors can lead novice divers to safe diving, master divers have the option to dive alone or in groups to tackle more difficult dives. Course requirements

Master diving courses are required. An advanced certification and completion of several scuba dive courses are required to become a Master Diver. As a divemaster you will be able to teach new divers how to dive safely and to instruct them. It is essential that you can help others overcome difficulties while diving, and the courses you have taken will provide you with this knowledge.


Students must log a minimum number of dives in order to complete the Master Diver course. While they are required to log at least 40 dives in order to complete the Master Diver course some people may find this too low for such a difficult course. It is important to review your skills, and log more enjoyable dives, in order to be ready for the course. It may be a good idea to incorporate the information you received from your Rescue course into self-study.

PADI Specialties

PADI offers five different specialties for its specialized courses. Choose from either the North East, Tropical or both. The program can be completed with one or two electives. If you choose a PADI course that incorporates several of your favorite dive types, you will receive 10% off the five courses. Once you have completed the PADI course, your specialty can be chosen and you can create your own curriculum.

Once you have mastered the art of diving with enriched oxygen, you can look at wrecks. PADI Wreck Diver Specialty allows you to dive with enriched air and can take you to wrecks. Learn about underwater photography and the many benefits it offers. You will learn the best underwater photography techniques, as well as how to choose and use digital cameras. PADI's Digital Underwater Photographer class will take you deeper into the world of underwater photography.

You must be a certified divemaster to qualify

Divemasters teach certified divers, and they also act as instructors and managers of the day. They plan dives, make detailed maps of each site, including underwater relief, local facilities and potential hazards. Before you start your Divemaster course, you should have completed your Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Open Water Diver course.
