Tacoma scuba diving shops offer a range of services for divers. They also offer supplies and training, and specialize classes. Participating in local scuba diving activities such as Earth Day clean-ups is possible. Buzzing Scuba Dive Shop is a great place for beginners to learn about diving. Read on to learn about the many services offered by Buzzing Scuba Dive Shop.

Earth Day underwater cleanup

Volunteers from Tacoma's scuba community have joined forces to clean up the environment on Earth Day. The cleanup takes place at the Point Defiance Boathouse in Tacoma. Last year's event removed 810 pounds of trash from the area's waters. This cleanup is an ongoing effort to protect marine life and preserve our environment. Participating in the cleanup is a great way for you to promote your business, and also allows you to meet people who love scuba diving.

Organisers plan to bring together kayakers and scuba divers to take out fishing gear from the Tacoma waterfront. Once the net is removed, divers will use a boat elevator to haul it out of the water. Wounded Warriors can help participants remove large quantities of trash and other debris. Organizers are hoping the cleanup will help preserve our waters and provide a unique experience for the community.

Rockfish survey

Scuba divers can save endangered rockfish species by taking part in a Tacoma SCUBA rockfish survey. This dive is part Harbor WildWatch citizen science collaboration with NOAA. Divers of all levels are welcome to participate in the survey. There is no need for survey experience. The training takes place during the dive brief. Participation in night dives requires certification.

WDFW began a multi-year mark-recapture study near Westport, Washington, in 1998. This project involves a five-year annual release of black rockfish as part of a sport fishing tag-recovery system. These fish were released at pinnacles within the Westport charter fishing fleet. Two wire tags with codes were placed in the opercular muscles of the fish for individual identification.

You can get rid of a lot of trash in one go

Commencement Bay is a good place to go diving in the greater Tacoma Area. This Earth Day, 47 pounds of trash was collected by volunteers from the water by scuba divers. Octopuses, fishing lines, and glass bottles were among the garbage. The clean-up was organized by the Marine Science and Technology Center (MaST), part of Highline Community College. A previous MaST cleanup removed hundreds of pounds of trash from the waters around Des Moines.

Observation of wounded bull sea lion

Tacoma, Washington dive group had the opportunity to witness an amazing sight while scuba diving. Scuba divers were stunned to see a bull sea lion wounded by an arrow. According to reports, the shark bite had left the animal blind and had left a scar. Bjorn, who was blind from the shark bite, was taken to Los Angeles' Marine Mammal Care Center where rescuers assisted him in gaining weight. Bjorn is the name of the sea lion, named after a character from "Vikings". This mighty creature weighs nearly 400 pounds and is now residing at the Tacoma Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

scuba dive

This spectacular sight was witnessed by a Tacoma group of scuba divers in October. It was their first encounter with a sealion during a dive. They were so excited to be able to share the experience with other scuba divers. Observations reveal the playful nature and energy of the lions. Sea lion pups often form groups with similar ages and play with divers in water. The pups also like to play with the divers, jumping into the water to give them toys and interacting with bubble streams.
