Two separate parts of a scuba helmet are the backplate (wing) and the wing (wing). Each piece is attached to a buoyancy compensator, which establishes positive buoyancy on the surface and neutral buoyancy underwater. The wing and backplate are modular systems that can be disassembled from each other. They are a good choice for divers not sure which type of scuba diving equipment to purchase. Stainless steel
You can have your stainless steel wings or back plate with or without a belt. For the wings and backplate, 316 stainless-steel will be used. It is extremely saltwater resistant. It is cut on a CNC cutter and polished manually to prevent sharp edges which can prematurely wear the strap. They can also work with single- or dual-air tanks. You can remove the stainless steel wings and backplate for easy storage.
Backplates made of stainless steel are more heavy than those made from aluminium. Stainless steel backplates are great for colder climates, where they'll reduce the weight you'll carry during your dive. Stainless steel backplates fit all types of dive tanks better than lead pieces. A Halcyon Dealer can provide weighting advice to determine what's appropriate for your body weight. This backplate is also more durable, so it doesn't require as frequent replacement.
Plastic
While the buoyancy from the plastic backplate or wing can be a problem, it can still make it easier to replace the weight belt. Jacket BCDs include pockets and weight integration. However, the backplate and wing system does not have any of these ancillary features. These components can be ordered separately. Both are available separately. We'll discuss the pros and con of each. It is crucial that you choose the right type and size of back plate to suit your needs.
Softpack harness
There are several types of harnesses that can be used for the wings and backplate. Backplates, wing BCDs, and the most common are both available. These include the necessary components such as the backplate, wing and harness. They allow for customization of the harness with many adjustable features. Softpack BCDs are ideal for technical divers, since they are made of a lightweight, flexible material and are not attached to a rigid plate.
Steel backplate harnesses are not adaptable. This harness is not suitable for single tanks. It is only compatible with double tanks with permanent bands. The steel harness is rigid but can be difficult to use when traveling. The steel harness is only compatible with double tanks. Additionally, the steel backplate may not be suitable for use on land. It can be converted to work with single tanks by attaching adapters, but this is not recommended.
