Advanced Technical Diving Certifications

Advanced technical diving certifications can be pursued by many people. TDI offers Intro to Tech and Advanced Nitrox courses, while PADI offers Tec Trimix, Deep Diver and Deep Diver courses. Advanced diving techniques are introduced in the TDI Advanced Nitrox course for recreational Nitrox divers. The course covers equipment, gas switching, emergency techniques, and more. You can find more information on the TDI site.

TDI Intro to Tech course

The TDI Intro to Tech is a standalone training program that allows you to expand your recreational training and learn more advanced technical skills. It can also be used to introduce you to TDI’s advanced courses like Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures. Alternatively, it can serve as a refresher for those who have already taken technical courses. TDI technical instructors can evaluate your skills during the course.

The TDI Intro to Tech course for divers who have not used twin cylinders, a wing or a wing is designed for those who are new to diving. It also covers advanced buoyancy control and gas management. Students will also gain situational awareness as well as trim skills. The course is taught in the sea or in open cenotes that offer conditions similar to swimming pools. Advanced gas planning skills will also be learned. This course is intended to enhance your open water diving skills, and to introduce you the technical equipment configurations. Advanced gas planning techniques will also be covered. This course is not for decompression, but you can use enriched air-nitrox mixtures during it.

Course in TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures

TDI Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures training prepares divers for accelerated decompression. During this course, students learn advanced gas planning and management techniques to ensure that their dives are as safe as possible. Students learn to manage their equipment, and how to plan for emergencies. The TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression procedures course includes four dives to a maximum depth 40m (130ft).

This course can be taken as a standalone course or as part of an Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures certification. Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses can be taken as a performance-based course and last for 4 days. Six dives are required, with two below 30m. The course is tailored to the students' experience and individual needs. This course prepares students for advanced technical diving, including wrecks in Scapa Flow and the UK.

PADI Tec Trimix course

The PADI Tec Trimix 90 course is the final stage of the PADI Technical Diver open circuit path. This certification course allows you to explore deeper waters and places where few others have been. This course is intended for experienced tec divers looking to increase their skills and explore deeper areas. You must hold a valid diving license and pass a medical exam to become certified in trimix diving. You will need two 30cf-stage bottles and a facial mask to be certified in trimix diving.

PADI Tec Trimix 65 Divers must have logged at the very least 350 dives. Technical diving techniques and protocols are also covered in the course. Multiple teaching scenarios are also included in the course. It is considered the most advanced course in technical dive certification. The requirements are much more stringent than the PADI Tec Diver certification.

PADI Tec Deep Diver course

The PADI Tec Deep Diver certification is a more advanced course for recreational divers. This certification includes four dives. It also covers safety stops and descents. The technical diving equipment you use, such as a side mounted cylinder and EANx, will be practiced. You'll also learn about how to plan a deep dive and manage your gas supply. Online and offline lessons are both possible through the PADI Tec eLearning program.

Unlike the previous PADI courses, this program can be completed in two years. First, you need to be certified as a Tec 50 diver by an approved organization. You must be able to dive at 50m, deep diving and pure oxygen. Additionally, the PADI Course Director conducting the Tec Deep Instructor course may also offer Tec 50 diver level training. Upon completion, the PADI Instructor Course Director will issue a Tec Deep Diver Certification.
