A dive master is a professional who enables others to go underwater by leading recreational and organised dives. Dive master certification is required in many countries for divers who have to be a supervisor or guide. Not everyone can become a dive master. However, if you have the right qualifications, you can become a dive master. Here are some of your benefits as a dive master.

Job description of a dive master

What is the job of a divemaster? A variety of tasks are involved, such as supervising customers, reviewing the risks of diving and delivering briefings to guide groups through a dive. A job description for a divemaster can be more diverse. Diver masters may be responsible for many aspects of a dive shop including general operations and social media presence.

Scuba instructors can teach and supervise divers in open water and swimming pools. They also supervise other activities like navigation exercises. Open water dive instructors can lead students on the surface and navigation portions of the dives. Dive instructors may also be responsible for directing certified divers through scuba review courses. The legal responsibility of dive instructors varies from country to country. However, in some countries, the diving instructor is exempt from legal responsibility when the dive instructor signs a waiver.

Certification requirements

A course is required to become a competent Divemaster. Divemaster courses cover topics like managing divers, managing dive sites and finding the flow. Additionally, candidates must have at least 60 logged dives. Instructors on dive courses can also benefit from the assistance of Divemasters, who can help novice divers learn theory and practice their skills.

Dive masters have to take courses in addition. They also need to pass a two-part exam. Each part must be scored at least 75% to pass the exam. For the exam, candidates will use the PADI Instructor Manual and the eRDPML. Students will also have to prepare an emergency plan and perform five water skills exercises. At least fifteen points must be combined. After completing the course, divemasters must receive certification.

Internship requirements

Divermasters have many internship options. You have the option to help set up dive sites or assist with other PADI courses, depending on what you prefer. Your assistance may be needed for skill circuits. However, the internship will have a set pattern. An internship typically lasts for eight weeks. In that time you could become an Advanced Open Water Diver. After four to six weeks of training, you will be able to become a Divemaster or Diveguide.

You may also be able to find a free internship for Divemasters in addition to paid internships. Even though free internships may not be ideal, they will allow you to get valuable advice and study from a Divemaster. As part of your internship, you might be eligible for manuals, certifications, and equipment. You must also know the requirements for enrolling in any Divemaster course.
