Advanced Technical Diving Certifications

Advanced technical diving certifications can be pursued by many people. TDI offers Intro to Tech courses as well as Advanced Nitrox, Decompression Procedures and Advanced Nitrox, while PADI offers Tec Trimix or Deep Diver courses. Advanced Nitrox diving techniques are taught in the TDI Advanced Nitrox Course for recreational Nitrox divers. TDI Intro to Tech course

The TDI Intro to Tech is a standalone training program that allows you to expand your recreational training and learn more advanced technical skills. It can also be used to introduce you to TDI’s advanced courses like Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures. Or, it could be used as refresher material for people who have already completed technical courses. During the course, TDI technical instructor can assess your abilities.

The TDI Intro to Tech course was designed for divers who are not familiar with twin cylinders. The course also covers advanced buoyancy control, gas management, and more. Students will also gain situational awareness as well as trim skills. The course is taught in open cenotes, or at sea. Advanced gas planning techniques and methods will also be covered. This course is intended to enhance your open water diving skills, and to introduce you the technical equipment configurations. You will also learn advanced gas planning techniques. This course is not for decompression, but you can use enriched air-nitrox mixtures during it.

Course in TDI Advanced Nitrox & Decompression Procedures

TDI Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures classes prepare divers for accelerated, staged and controlled decompression. Students will learn advanced gas planning skills and management techniques to ensure their dives are as safe and enjoyable as possible. Students learn how to manage equipment and prepare for unexpected situations. The TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression procedures course includes four dives to a maximum depth 40m (130ft).


This course can be taken either as a standalone or in conjunction with an Advanced Nitrox or Decompression Procedures certification. Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures courses are performance-based, lasting four days. Students complete six dives and two dives below 30 meters. Students complete the course according their own experience and needs. This course prepares you for advanced technical diving.

PADI Tec Trimix course

The PADI Tec Trimix 90 course is the final stage of the PADI Technical Diver open circuit path. This certification opens up the possibility to go deeper into the ocean and discover places no one else has. This course is only suitable for highly experienced tec divers who want to extend their range and explore deeper environments. Trimix certification requires a valid driver's license and a medical exam. You will need two 30cf-stage bottles and a facial mask to be certified in trimix diving.

PADI Tec Trimix 65 divers must have logged at most 350 dives. This includes at least 50 dives with a trimix of less than 21 per cent oxygen. The course also includes technical diving techniques. There are multiple teaching scenarios. It is the highest level of technical diving certification. However, it is worth noting that the requirements are more demanding than the standard PADI Tec Diver course.

PADI Tec Deep Diver course

The PADI Tec Deep Diver certification is a more advanced course for recreational divers. This certification allows for four dives. You will also be able to use technical dive equipment such as a EANx or side-mounted cylinder. Learn how to plan deep diving and manage your gas supplies. You can take lessons online or offline with the PADI Tec eLearning Program.

This program, unlike previous PADI courses can be completed within two years. First, you will need to obtain a Tec 50 dive certification from an approved organization. The qualifying certification must cover technical deep diving, decompression dives to 50 metres, and pure oxygen diving. The Tec Deep Instructor course is also offered by the PADI Course Directors. Upon completion of the Tec Deep Instructor course, the PADI Course Director will issue you a Tec Deep Diver certification.
