Opportunities to skate
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign maintains an ice rink that is available to the public. There are several steps that you can take to host an event at the rink for groups. First, you must make a reservation. Visit the Illini Union's RSO Office in Room 284 to make a reservation. If you wish to reserve ice time, please make sure that you have a list for all participants. You will also need to arrange for a supervisor at the rink to answer your questions during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena Center Ice Cafe is now open to the general public. The cafe is situated adjacent to Customer Service Office. There's also an Ice Arena Pro Shop with a wide variety of hockey and skating accessories.
Free skate trainers

Gas leak in UI Ice Arena
Following a leak at its ice rink, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has sent out an Illini-Alert. The building, at 406 E. Armory Ave. in Chicago, was evacuated after Ameren Illinois crews found a leak. To stop further contamination, firefighters closed a sideway that leads to the arena. The leak may have come from below the building.
